What is “good cause” in Texas for quitting a job and maintaining eligibility for unemployment benefits?

Posted by | Posted in Buy My Home Fast - Questions & Answers | Posted on 29-06-2011-05-2008

Question by ineed2know: What is “good cause” in Texas for quitting a job and maintaining eligibility for unemployment benefits?
I live in Texas and resigned from a position in the DFW metroplex area after four years of employment to accept an opportunity in deep east Texas. Two formal interviews were held, training classes were completed and an agreement was signed regarding the opportunity in Timpson, Texas. After resigning from a good job, packing all of my personal possessions and moving to east Texas, the principal heading the new opportunity told me he was not sure I was who he wanted for the job and the opportunity dissolved. It seems under these circumstances I should be eligible for unemployment benefits, shouldn’t I? Can anybody shed some light on this for me please? I am “far from home and sinking fast”. Thanks for your help!

Best answer:

Answer by Mutt
No. You chose to leave your job to pursue the other one. Just because the other job offer fell through after you quit your original job does not qualify you for unemployment.

What is a “good cause” for quitting? If you felt you had no alternative due to threats or harassment. That is not the case in your situation.

“I am far from home and sinking fast” – Sounds like it’s time to start applying for any job you can find. Even if it’s WalMart, it’s a job with money coming in. You don’t have to make a career out of it, but you do have to eat. Continue sending resumes out in the meantime.

Question by bakerel3: Has anyone ever used a “We Buy Your Home” Service and had good results?
I am looking to sell my condo and am thinking about using one of the many “We Sell Your Home” or “We Buy Your Home” services. I am wondering if anyone has used this service before and if there is one that you would recommend?

Best answer:

Answer by acermill
When dealing with a “We Buy Your Home” companies, you can expect to receive around 80% of market value. Such firms work well for those who must sell in a hurry, but you don’t get anywhere near the value you would obtain if you sold conventionally. The profit motive for these firms is to buy them below market value and then put them on the market themselves in hopes of obtaining full or close to full market value.

What do you think? Answer below!

There is no such thing. There are a few legit ones but they don’t make you rich as the commercials portray it to be. My cousin sells this cream online and he makes 2,000US in 4 months after literally begging college students to buy it. So I guess its not really ‘stay at home’ at all.

Last Friday, December 21, 2007, President Bush signed into law a bill that will temporarily (for 3 years) keep households that negotiate a short sale on their home from having to pay income tax on the difference between the sales price and the owed mortgage amount. This is a great relief for many homeowners who are stuck in adjustable rate mortgages (ARMs) that they can’t afford and anyone else who simply can’t pay their mortgage because of job loss, etc.

I see this as a very big step in the right direction for the struggling real estate markets across the nation and here in the Midwest in particular. In Ohio we have a large problem with foreclosures and the media has been so kind as to point this out on an almost daily basis. This bill has the potential to have a very positive effect on this problem and there are a couple of big reasons why.

Traditionally, foreclosures are often homes that are beat up and abused by their former owners. This is not a surprising outcome of the process, but it makes the re-sale of the home much harder and usually causes a larger reduction in price. With this bill being signed into law it will make the pre-foreclosure sale (otherwise known as a short sale) an even more attractive option than before. This bill will truly allow the homeowner to put this whole thing behind them and allow them to have the credit benefits as well.

In my experience short sale properties, although not perfect, tend to be in much better condition than many foreclosures because the seller has an interest and benefit in selling the property. A short sale allowing the seller to wash their hands of the matter completely also makes the likelihood and length of vacancy much shorter than a foreclosure, which in Franklin county can take up to 18 months to complete. This also helps the resale value of the neighborhood and helps to keep the homes from bringing down the whole area by adding to crime and becoming an eyesore.

Although short sales are not the type of sales we would like to see in the real estate market for overall prices, they pale in comparison to the effects of the same number of vacant foreclosures taking up to 18 months to sell at auction before they are even marketed to the public.

Would Reid call these recent economic indicators as more “good news” like he did the loss of 36,000 jobs?

Question by Susiepolls2008: Would Reid call these recent economic indicators as more “good news” like he did the loss of 36,000 jobs?
On the real estate front, new home sales are collapsing again, existing home sales are also falling sharply and construction activity (both residential and commercial) is sharply down.

Durable goods orders are down, and initial claims for unemployment benefits remain stubbornly high (way above the 400,000 mark).

Real disposable income for Q4 has been revised downward while real disposable income (before transfers) for January was negative again.

Is “you eat it up too fast” a good excuse to not buy your kid food?

Posted by | Posted in Buy My Home Fast - Questions & Answers | Posted on 17-09-2010-05-2008

Question by Wolfgang: Is “you eat it up too fast” a good excuse to not buy your kid food?
My mom leaves me home alone all day with no food. I starve all day and have nothing but dinner and I have dinner only sometimes. I ask her why she won’t go out and get anything for me to make while she’s not home and she says, “you eat it up too fast”. I tell her I didn’t have anything to eat all day and ask her for dinner and she goes, “I shouldn’t have to cook everyday”. Now is this a good excuse? Do you not buy food for your kids because “they eat it up too fast”? I don’t think this is a good excuse and I don’t understand this.

Sometimes she comes home at 10 with a small bag of McDonald’s food with a measly paper pack of fries and 4 chicken nuggets and thinks it’s all I need to eat all day. My mom tells me that most parents don’t cook everyday and buy food all the time, so she shouldn’t have to. Is this a normal situation? Do you cook everyday or at least leave your kids with something that they can make on their own or something microwaveable? What do you think of this?
No, I’m really serious.
There is really nothing here for me to cook. All I had to eat today was a donut that was left over from yesterday.

Let’s see, we have some cereal (but no milk), some old dry pasta (but no sauce), bread, a LOT of coffee, a few cans of some old canned food that’s been sitting there for years and is either exipired or something I don’t eat like canned beats, bacon (which I don’t know how to cook), nuts, gravy in a can, And that’s about it.
