Question by brenda k: Can anyone tell me how to start a “REAL” profitable “at home” EBAY business? I need serious help & ideas.Thx.
I’ve read books, asked different people, but they all just do it to clean out their home or office as a way to get rid of junk. I am a crafter, and have been selling fabric and other craft items, with a good thought process, but after listing things for a couple of months and putting the effort into this, I’ve sold about 0 but that’s about it. I seem to be spending way more time and money than other people are and they make lots and lots of money. The people who contact me and my feedback comments speak for themselves that I know how to do it, I’m just not finding the right selling “nitch” I need to have continuous sales.
Any suggestions on finding the right products, where to find them, and any tips to turn my little at home business around with a profit??? I would appreciate EVERYONE’S help. Thanks.

If you are a crafter, I am not sure if eBay is the correct forum for selling it. You might consider starting your own unique website.

If you are interested in eBay, junk is really the way to go. It sounds funny, but some of the most successful people on eBay sell crap. You might consider going to a local flea market or auction and purchasing items to sell on ebay. You also might consider contacting a distributor and getting wholesale prices on the latest electronics… those seem to sell well too (but there is a lot of competition, so you need a good price). Good luck. I have been doing eBay for a few years know and sometimes I spend more in fees than I make!

The secret to make a killing on ebay is to know what is actually selling and hot. People who sell a lot of stuff on ebay are “working”, and they have the right tools.

Hello;
I have been on ebay since there inception over 10 years ago.
I have found the best way to make a profit on ebay is to buy low, ( I deal with collectibles) you can find out what is HOT on ebay by using ebays what’s hot here is the link to it. http://pages.ebay.com/sellercentral/whatshot.html
I try NOT to spend over $3 on any item because I can start the bidding @ 99 cents to attract more customers even if it sells for only 99 cents + shipping, I charge $7.85 shipping which covers the cost of the item + the cost to ship. Anything over the 99 cents is profit.
I buy at yard sales and thrift stores on a regular basis.
If you open an ebay store you get great exposer to ebay + you can get it all for free for the first 30 days.
It allows you to list items in your store and ebay only charges about 5 cents for the listing in your store compared to 70 cents to 1.00 if you put it on auction.
If you list auctions ALL your items in your store also show to the buyers so you get great customers.
God Bless & Good Luck
PS. I also have a few sites that pay you to be online check the site out at http://www.moneymattersmarketing.com

Hi – I am an established seller on eBay. eBay has been my full time job for 4 years, and I have sold over 12,000 items.

Please remember, that as an entrepreneur, you will put in many unpaid hours before you see a profit. You have to be patient.

You might want to add other items to your product line to get more store traffic. I shop at thrift stores and garage sales and find items to sell, you can do the same. Once you start getting more traffic and sales, you can add the craft items back in. Alot of sellers have diverse product lines – the idea is to make money and get sales!

It sounds like you might need some one-on-one consulting. If I saw your store and listings, I might be able to make suggestions to help you get more sales.

Please email me directly and I can share more information with you.
